この春カフェと宿 〈ROUTE〉は、おかげさまで7周年を迎えました。〈ROUTE〉は、旧市街地の宿泊施設「長崎インターナショナルホステルあかり」の姉妹店として開業しました。長崎に暮らす方、長崎を訪れる方の双方にとっての窓口となれるようとの思いから「カフェと宿」を併設しております。
また〈ROUTE〉という名前は、長崎を訪れるゲストのみなさんの「旅のみちしるべ」になれるように、というスタッフの思いから選んだ言葉です。わたしたちスタッフも長崎での暮らしと新しい発見を楽しみながらゲストの皆様の旅のルートつくりをお手伝いできればと思っています。
2020年は旅を取り巻く環境も変化の著しい年となってしまいました。ニューノーマルという言葉の通り、旅やビジター産業に属する私たちも環境の変化に応じ、新しい旅をナビゲートするみちしるべとなれるよう心掛けていきたいと思っています。
残念ながら姉妹店の長崎インターナショナルホステルあかりはこの五月、十二年の歴史に幕を下ろしました。旧市街地の中島川エリアを離れること・場を閉じることで、ゲストとの思い出や記憶まで忘れてしまうのではないかと時折り悲しくもありますが、いつかはしなくてはならない決断でもありました。
ホステルあかりでゲストさんと紡いできた交流の歴史を引き継ぎつつ、新たな気持ちで 〈ROUTE〉での活動を続けていきたいと思います。
